Snow All Year Round

Snow is a 3 year old mini horse gelding. He came to the sanctuary in 2021 shortly after being sent to slaughter by his previous owners. It is suspected that the family had no use for him after judging his conformation. Snow's hind legs are cow-hocked. Meaning that his hind hocks are close together and placing the hooves to far apart and pointing outwards. Additionally, Snow moves differently than a normal horse with straight legs. His hind end is weaker due to the strain on his back and hindquarters, which means he has less propelling matter and impulsion. His feet travel and swings inwards when he walks, trots, or canters. With the guidance of our veterinarian and farrier, Snow is living life comfortably. He will have a forever home at the Ark.
